In January 2016, WEST (Wales Evangelical School of Theology) is transforming into Union, a new and larger international ministry headquartered in Oxford and led by Revd Dr Michael Reeves. The ultimate purpose and vision of Union is mission: growing leaders for growing churches. Union will serve the church and aid her in her mission to re-evangelise Europe.
Union will have four departments: 1) Research, 2) School, and 3) Resources, all serving the ultimate goal of 4) Mission. The Research, School and Resources departments will together establish the theological and spiritual robustness of our mission, while the overall aim and structure of Union will maintain clarity and unity of missional vision throughout the organisation. The result will be the most joined up missions strategy since the Reformation.
Our Oxford research centre will fuel our essential mission, as well as serving the UK church more broadly as a centre of excellence for evangelical theology.
In the school we will form, educate and train students to be godly, wise and well-equipped leaders who can plant and pastor robust and healthy churches. Union School of Theology will consist of two main components: our West campus, and Learning Communities distributed regionally and internationally.
As part of our commitment to grow leaders for sustainable and healthy mission, as well as educating we aim to ongoingly resource those leaders and their churches.
In partnership with churches, networks, mission agencies and funders, Union will recruit, raise and strategically deploy church planters and leaders, facilitating church planting across Europe.
